Borinquen Field was renamed in honor of Brigadier General Howard K. Ramey
General Ramey and his crew lost their lives 26 March 1943 during a reconnaissance mission in the Pacific Theatre Operations
US Army Air Corps Borinquen Field was renamed in his honor 18 September 1948 by the newly created US Air Force
General Ramey and the crew of B-17F 41-24384 have never been found. Their reconnaissance mission has not ended though. Brigadier General Howard K. Ramey and the crew of “Pluto” are expected stateside for a “welcome home”. Their families, friends and a grateful nation proudly await their return
