The 770th was using Ramey’s “Alert Area” as their base of operations during a seven day training exercise.  Their mission was to provide “timely support” to all the towns in the area specially the ones hidden in the deep mountain areas of the Island. Their convoys were seen constantly all over the west side of the Island during the period of exercise.

A few of the 770th command staff passed briefly by the Museum and we arranged for a one day “off duty” tour of the Museum and of the former Ramey AFB facilities.

The 770th is a newly established Company of the 292nd CSSB, Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of the PR Army National Guard. Although the 770th is a new company most of the troops have served overseas.

After visiting the Museum we boarded a bus, provided by the Aguadilla Municipality, and we went for a grand tour of the base. Our volunteers Agustin Martinez and Joe Miranda said present as usual and if anything felt just at home.

After the tour we were invited to have some chow with the troops. The 770th  would not allow us, as guests, to have their usual MREs. So…… we were used, as a good excuse, to order massive amounts of rice and beans, chicken, plantains, french bread and flan. Now that’s command experience right there!!!

The next day we got a phone call from 1SG Marcos Olivo which organized the whole “off duty” day. The 770th wanted to give us a plaque in recognition for what we had done. He mentioned very few go out of the way to be of service. We humbly accepted the plaque in the name of the RAFBHA.
